Job Summary: The CCTV System Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of CCTV systems and related security equipment. This role ensures all surveillance systems function effectively, meet Company requirements, and comply with safety and privacy standards. Key Responsibilities: • Install, configure, and test CCTV systems, including IP and analog cameras, NVRs/DVRs, and related infrastructure. • Perform site surveys and develop system layout plans according to site requirements. • Run and terminate low-voltage cabling, including coaxial and Cat5e/6, for camera and network connections. • Diagnose and resolve system faults or performance issues, including software, hardware, and cabling problems. • Upgrade and maintain firmware/software for CCTV systems. • Ensure recording, storage, and backup systems are functioning and meet data retention policies. • Provide training and support to end users on operating the systems. • Prepare and maintain documentation including diagrams, installation logs, maintenance reports, and inventory. • Ensure compliance with local surveillance laws and privacy regulations. • Coordinate with vendors and third-party contractors for project delivery or escalated support. • Respond promptly to service calls and emergency issues as needed. Qualifications and Skills: Required: • Proven experience installing and maintaining CCTV systems. • Strong understanding of IP networking (basic routing, switching, IP addressing). • Familiarity with popular CCTV brands (e.g., Hikvision, Dahua, Axis, Uniview). • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and technical manuals. • Knowledge of power tools and safe electrical installation practices. • Basic understanding of PoE (Power over Ethernet) and UPS systems. Preferred: • Vocational or technical diploma in electronics, IT, or related field. • Certification in CCTV installation or electronic security (e.g., ESA, NSI). • Knowledge of access control or alarm systems. Soft Skills: • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities. • Good verbal and written communication skills. • Ability to work independently or as part of a team. • Strong attention to detail and accuracy. • Commitment to safety and customer satisfaction. Working Conditions: • May require travel to multiple job sites. • Work at heights using ladders or lifts. • Occasional, weekend, or after-hours work may be required. |
